Diversity and inclusion - it’s part of our O2 Blueprint, our way of life.

Home > Culture > Diversity & Inclusion

It’s our differences that make us equal. We might be expert Techies. Fearless leaders. Bold thinkers. Supreme organisers. And the rest. We love having a diverse team of people who bring new ideas and different strengths and perspectives to the party. But it’s not just our skills that are different. We’re different as people too, and we welcome everyone, whatever their age, cultural background, disability, gender, marital status, nationality, political belief, race, religious or sexual orientation. It’s these differences that help us to be more innovative and more competitive. And they drive us to create a workplace that’s truly equal. Our employee networks are people led, intersectional and representative of the allyship and drive that we demand of all of our people; to Embrace Diversity and Inclusion at the heart of all that we do. Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage is the focus of our Reach Network, our Women’s Network works hard to drive our agenda for Women. We are proud members of the Tech Talent Charter and actively support their aims to  drive inclusion and diversity in a practical and uniquely measurable way. Proud @O2, our LGBT+ network proudly represents O2 when it comes to sexuality and identity. Recently we supported the Stonewall Gender Recognition Act campaign by sending a letter on behalf of all of us at O2 to the Government to support our people and the communities that we serve. We strive to think and be intersectional in all that we do.

We’re all on a journey together

At O2, we all have the same opportunities to grow, succeed and be more. Working with and learning from people from all walks of life makes every day unique. Here, you’ll be able to be yourself. Whoever you are. Our people are the reason why your first steps on the career ladder will be effortless, if you take them here. Our people are the reason why you can build a longterm career here. Our people are the reason why you can spend more as more time with your family, without worrying how that might affect your career. Our Family policy is for everybody - 14 weeks of full pay to welcome your newest member of the TeamO2 family, we have lead the way on this in our industry. Our people are the reason why you don’t have to choose. Because whatever your journey, we’re by your side all the way.

We’re bringing talent back

O2 isn’t just the perfect place to begin a career, or take that next big step. It’s also the perfect place to restart your career after a break. That’s where our Career Returners’ Programme comes in. It’s designed to help us get more women into STEM roles in many areas of our business, and it has proven to be a huge success. The programme runs for 4 months, and supports you to update your skills, re-adjust to a corporate environment, and build your professional self-confidence. Then, we help you progress into a role at the right level for you. Previous returners have had multiple promotions, and we track everyone’s journey closely to make sure the right opportunities find you. So whatever the reason for your career break, your talent has never been more important. And we can bring it - and you - back in a big way.

Our ambition is to be even more different

At O2, we believe in creating a fairer future for everyone, and this starts with our people. We are passionate about ensuring that everyone at O2 is supported to grow, develop and progress. We are clear about the critical value a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives brings to our business. By 2025, we have set ourselves a target to be the most Inclusive is to be the leading inclusive employer in the UK with a truly representative workforce who can thrive, feel belonging and be who they want to be. That means standing out from the businesses who are also doing things differently. To do this, we want our people to reflect the communities we serve, which in turn means making sure everyone is valued, and feels included. So, at O2 you’ll enjoy fair pay, equal prospects and individual career development. Not to mention flexible working and a healthy/work life balance. And when it comes to our early careers, we’ve even started having ‘blind’ interviews to make sure we assess you as a person - not your CV! Our ambition is to be even more different than we already are. And #OurPeopleAreTheReason. We are signing up to the Race at Work Charter on October 1st, and as part of our ambition to include everyone, we’ve signed up to The Valuable 500, joining over 100 other companies and brands in a pledge to shine a light on disability awareness and inclusion, both for our people and the communities we serve.
