Diversity and inclusion - it’s part of our O2 Blueprint, our way of life.

Championing a fair, ethical and inclusive business from the inside

Inclusion is a way of life for us here at O2. Because we know that it takes all kinds of people to help us think differently, drive innovation, and meet the diverse needs of our customers.

We love having a diverse team who bring new ideas and different strengths and perspectives to the party, and we’re constantly striving for an inclusive and representative workforce. Techies. Leaders. Bold thinkers. Supreme organisers. We’re on a journey together, and everyone is valued for who they are. So, we all have the same opportunities to grow, succeed, and be the best versions of ourselves. Working with and learning from people from all walks of life makes every day an adventure.

Passionate about diversity and inclusion, we treat everyone fairly and equally. You’ll be able to bring your whole self to work. And you’ll enjoy fair pay, equal prospects and individual career development. Not to mention flexible working and a healthy work/life balance. For our early careers opportunities, we even conduct ‘blind’ interviews to make sure we assess the person - not just their CV. And we’re continuing to take positive action to drive greater equity in all of our approaches to recruitment, engagement, development, progression. Things like bespoke development initiatives, reverse mentoring and work experience opportunities specifically targeted at our ethnic minority and female colleagues, and making sure we have diverse shortlists for recruitment and talent development programmes.

We also ensure our family policies include everyone by offering a 14 week paternity leave if your partner’s having a baby, adopting a child or having a baby through surrogacy.

Equality. Diversity. Inclusion. Fairness. This is how we roll. Whoever you are – O2 has a place for you.

Career Accelerator Programme Partnership

O2 have partnered with Career Accelerate to take part in a mentoring program supporting 14-17 year olds through their own unique experiences and sharing their skill sets.

The selected mentors within O2 are our future leaders from talent programs and former graduates. Having this partnership in place will benefit both Career Accelerate and O2 to think about how, as leaders, we take an agile approach to mentoring young people from different minority backgrounds.

Career Accelerators' aim is to prepare diverse pupils for careers in the digital sector and supporting businesses to provide training opportunities for staff. Career Accelerator provides 14-18 year old students with the opportunity to prepare for careers in the digital sector through real world career support, while enabling digital businesses to work with talented young people from diverse backgrounds. The students on the programme are from The London Academy of Excellence, based in Tottenham.

    Gay and Proud?

People often ask me if I’m proud to be gay. My usual response is I’m proud to be Scottish. Being gay wasn’t something I sought after and achieved, like running a 10K. It’s just who I am. My hair is brown, I’m kind of tall. I don’t ever think I’m proud of that. So why would I be proud to be gay? But I know I’m proud to be Scottish.
