Who are you and what is your role at O2?

My name is Richard and I am the assistant store leader for Poole in the south west.

What do you like to get up to outside of work (interests & hobbies)?

I love playing and watching rugby which I do as reguarly as I can, I am a single Dad to a 2 year old and 5 year old so I try and spend as much time as possible on adventures with them. I also love meeting up with friends for the odd social.

How come you applied?

I applied for O2 because of how energetic the brand looked, I wanted to work somewhere that kept up with current trends and put people at the center of everything they do, for me it wasnt the pay but the way O2 came across as a company projects like our Data pledge where we are donating 10gb for every plan purchased to the national data bank means I am working for a company that cares.

What have you made of the Virgin Media O2 merger and has it affected you?

For me it has been nothing but exciting, i love the fact we are now a quad player and can supply our customers with all their telecoms needs, and to bring in exciting proposition's like Volt where we are doubling customers data for free again reaffirms the fact I work for a company that cares.

Have you used the O2 or Virgin Media discounts?

Having free airtime on my mobile phone contract is a life saver and helps towards making life more affordable, I also use the bike to work scheme and dental care which are great perks to have at a click of a button.

How would you describe your team and how you all get on?

In the Poole store we believe in having fun (Professionally ) are team is really diverse in regards to personalities but everyone get on really well, there are always challenges with any team but we focus on working together as a unit to overcome these.

What do you enjoy most about working for O2?

For me it is the workplace culture, i have worked in two other telecoms businesses and I have to say o2 is far superior in regards to the culture than anywhere else I have worked. I feel listened to, supported and most importantly to me like I have a future.

What are your career aspirations?

My long term goal is Territory Leader I enjoy working within the retail environment and love working with data and people. In the short term the focus is Store leader and Regional Leader.

Why should someone consider applying?

Whether you are looking for something to get you through University or a career it is important to recognize that you spend most of your time, O2 offers a job and working environment where you are free to be you, that will teach you essential soft skills that WILL put you ahead of the competition later in life and most importantly they are a company that cares, for many people this is more than just a job because of this.

My long term goal is Territory Leader I enjoy working within the retail environment and love working with data and people.
