It’s surprising how fast things move at O2. Before we have had a chance to finish wrapping up the Get Up For England campaign and actually digesting the results we have already started discussing the next big event in England’s rugby calendar. Preparing for Six Nations 2012 has already begun and it is already sounding as exciting as our previous campaign.
Although my passion lies in the world of rugby I am starting to see exciting opportunities in working with Arsenal (right now it’s now 23:30 and I have just arrived at Paddington on my way back from the Arsenal v West Brom game. I’ve got a half hour wait for my train so I thought I would update my blog). Over the last few weeks I have become gradually more independent in ensuring everything is running smoothly. This includes scheduling customer communications, organising consumer events including our priority match day while looking into opportunities to exploit local attributes in order to reward more customers on match day. Watch this space for exciting new activations around Arsenal.
All in all I have started to become a lot more confident in the jobs I was expected to complete at the start of my placement which has enabled me to delve deeper into more interesting and exciting parts. Still looking forward to the rest of my year with O2!

Week commencing the 26th September had been a long one as expected! But not in all the ways I first suspected. Although I had been really busy working on getting the Get Up For England packs sorted for England’s clash in the Rugby World Cup, I had also been to various events in the evenings. Talk about burning the candle at both ends.
Early that week, I had a mammoth finance session spent getting my head round all the systems and sorting out various payment queries. Sound’s exhilarating doesn’t it? Although that wasn’t the highlight of my week I do feel a lot better for doing it and getting it out of the way for another week or so.
Other than my hefty finance session that week I had been working with Arsenal a lot more. In doing so I organised communications with customers to promote a priority ticket sale for a game the following week. It was quite strange being on the other side of the texts/emails I receive from O2. Alongside this I also liaised with our agency that looks after our online ‘Blueroom’ to set up a page for this priority sale. That week gave me a lot of insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes. Overall it had been a very interesting week.

I’ve been at O2 for 5 months now, starting my training in September. After a string of part-time University call centre jobs I knew what to expect when I arrived for my interview. There were some similarities -my nervousness, their questions on experience and expectations - but aside from that applying at O2 was a completely different.
The interview gave you more opportunity to ask questions about the business and covered your likes, strengths and interests and I left feeling excited and enthusiastic about the possibility of working for O2.
The best part of working here so far has definitely been the team I work with. I was lucky to go onto the floor with my training group, meaning that for the first few shaky calls we had the support of people we knew and trusted. We’ve grown to be really close and it’s nice that do we get the opportunity in team meeting to spend more time socialising.
Having a team that gets on so well makes coming into work that much more enjoyable and means we always have someone to ask for support. While I haven’t been in my role for very long I’ve already had more opportunity to get involved in projects and take on other responsibilities than I’ve had in previous any role. I like that O2 offers the chance to gain more skills in my current role but also that we’re really encouraged to get involved in the Big Project. It helps out in the local community where I live and the variety of things you have the chance take part in is why I enjoy coming into work.
Thanks
Katy
