Usually I would describe an interview as “scary” or “intimidating” but the interview process for o2 was the exact opposite! Friendly and fun!

I was quite nervous after reading that the interview would be three hours long and I didn’t really know what to expect but it didn’t feel long at all, as the interviewers were extremely kind and we had a lot of fun as well as dealing with the important sections of the interview.

I found the interview process for O2 to be really simple. The online application form was very easy to complete and I was not expected to know anything about phones or about what happens at O2, as the questions were based mainly on personal experiences and how I had handled them. This was the same with the phone interview and parts of the face- to- face interview.

I was also expecting to have to do a role play, where I would have to speak to someone as if I was on a call but instead I was listening to a pre-recorded conversation, which was really good as I was able to then give my opinions on what was good and what could have been improved , which gave me a chance to show off my experience in customer service.

Overall I found the entire experience very easy and enjoyable.

Hollie Stanley,

My job feels very worthwhile

One of the great experiences and skills I have achieved from working at O2 was when I trained to be a face to face interviewer. Once trained I was then allowed to conduct face to face interviews at the selection events across Leeds and Bury sites on a regular basis.I gained so much more confidence with the skills that I have gained and this helped me to  give feedback to candidates which in turn helps them progress with their career; this gives me  great satisfaction both on a professional and personal level.

Increasing my skills has led me to progress them further by progressing and been trained on performance based interviews. In my personal opinion I believe these interviews to be much better as this allows you to gather so much more evidence to help make a decision as examples have to be a specific example rather than hypothetical answer, helping to gain a better employee for O2 to help turn our customers into Fans.

Doing face to face interviews at selection events is really interesting as no one interview is the same and you meet so many different people. One of the most satisfying things is when you see a candidate that you passed and they see you around the building and they say thanks and tell you how much they are enjoying the new role. The rapport you build gives me a great sense of achievement and makes my job feel very worthwhile and I would not change that for the world.

Spotting Talent

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I have just had a great day in Portsmouth with some of our Sales Advisors who have been identified by their Area Managers as up and coming talent. We had 9 Sales Advisors who want to become Assistant Branch Managers. We want to prepare them so they understand the interview process, we gave them Hints and Tips for interview days  and how to write C.V’S  It was a interactive day with a lot of 1 on 1 coaching and a chance to sit in a mock interview.  It was a fun session and the feedback from the day was great. In O2 we are committed to coach and develop our people to achieve their goals.Looking forward to the next one!
