Nearly a year in…

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I have worked in the legal team for nearly a year, keeping O2 on the straight and narrow!  Every day is different, which makes my job interesting and fun.  In the legal team, we get to deal with many people around the business and get a good understanding of how the business operates.  O2 is an exciting company to work for as it is constantly striving to improve business and is cutting edge.  There are also some great perks such as employee discounts, and also lots of competitions to win tickets to events at the O2 arena, and other O2 sponsored events.

An Amazing Experience

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I have worked for O2 for 10 years and it has been an amazing experience to be part of an industry that has evolved so much so quickly. I started off as a temp on the phones and now have Coach, Trainer, frontline, back office and schedule manager experience under my belt. O2 has to adapt quickly in the market and this is reflected in the work we do by consistently changing and flexing what we do to meet the needs of our internal customers sometimes deadlines can be tight but it makes my role as a Schedule Manger interesting and there is nothing better than working off the seat of your pants!

What’s my day like as an O2 Guru?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Well another day has dawned in my life as an O2 Guru, what challenges and issues will I face today?  This is one of the best things about not only my role as a Guru but also working for O2, one day is never the same as the next and you never know what you are going to have to assist our customers with.  Will it be an issue with an iPhone that belongs to the head of O2, or a mobile broadband that won’t connect for someone, who knows???

Giving advice and having people listen and take on board what you say is a great and very satisfying feeling as you know you are helping people out. This is key in my role as a Guru and the ability to speak simply is crucial, no point in blinding the customers with techie talk when they have come in for you to simplify what they don’t understand.  My role in O2 was originally as an Assistant Branch Manager, and as much as I enjoyed the challenges that role brought my work life was missing that extra spark, moving to the Guru role was the best move I could of ever made, I now smile on my way into work and I want to thank everyone who has supported me in the role.  My colleagues are great people and we form a great team, probably one of the best in the whole of O2 Retail.

More bizarre problems experienced today, including sorting out a famous Soap star with his mobile broadband, really nice guy and so thankful he bought us all coffee and cookies from the local Millie’s.  One good thing is that no failures in my day though, everyone went away with their problems ironed out and made more fans for O2.  Keep them happy and they keep coming back, getting quite a big following to as well now, my customers just call in now for a chat and to update me on how their kit is performing and how the advice I have given to them has helped and where they have progressed to.

Well going home now to my lovely little girl and for her to tell me all about her day in school, she’s the light of my life and the reason for everything I do, oh and later will be having a game of Modern Warfare 2 with some of the other Guru’s in my clan.  Laters……..
