Managing my own time

Monday, April 20th, 2009

I only joined O2 in July 2008, so you might think I am still in a ‘honeymoon period’, but I got such a warm welcome I feel like I’ve been here for years!!  At the moment I work in HR as part of the Reward and Representation team.  I help design and implement employee benefits for O2 people ranging from childcare vouchers through to private healthcare.

The work’s varied and you’re always busy, but what’s really great is the flexibility that I have to come up with and research new ideas. In HR, you can also get involved in other projects that you might be interested in and learn loads of new knowledge and skills. It’s also meant I have got to meet and work with a really diverse bunch of people and made some great contacts for any future work I might get involved in. The thing I most value about working at O2 is that I also get to manage my own time.  It helps me get the job done, but also create a work life balance that suits me and my family.

Being an O2 Guru

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

I have been a Guru for a while now and already I’m loving the role and the rewards the job has to offer. I am the store’s Mr O2.

I support my team with knowledge and direction to help them understand the up and coming products, promotions and technology of the 21st century. Customers that visit me also require this service from me before because our Connected World is changing everyday and it’s my job to make sure that customers are connected and that they receive great experience by me understanding their needs. Using big complicated words is something we are trying to avoid. We need to understand the level people can understand of technology and translate such jargon into an easy language they can relate too.

This week I have had meetings with manufactures like Blackberry, Palm and Samsung and went to a Guru meeting. O2 make sure we are kept up to date with the lastest changes and news. We are given products to help us learn, so we get a greater understanding of the functions of devices. I feel O2 support me and the team I work with are a great bunch of characters.
