So many choices…..

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

One of my favourite things about working for o2 is the great range of benefits which are on offer.  We have a really good set of basic benefits which includes an award winning pension scheme, open to all permanent employees from the day they start with o2.

We also have a generous holiday allowance, fantastic discounts on products and services for you, your friends and family and an online health and wellbeing tool which is personalised and helps you to look after yourself.

I was really pleased when we recently introduced a range of flexible benefits which employees can choose to buy if they want – there really is something for everyone.  You can buy child care vouchers, take a health plan or dental cover for your family, buy or sell holiday days (why would anyone sell holiday days??), join a wine club or use the ‘buy a bike’ scheme.  So, whatever your circumstances, there is likely to be something which grabs your attention!

But – my favourite benefit is the o2 Concierge.  This is a service available to everyone at o2 and has made my life so much easier on a number of occasions.  Basically, whether you’re booking a holiday, need a plumber, looking to buy a new car or just need a night out, the O2 Concierge will help seek out the best suppliers and companies that specialise in whatever you’re trying to organise.  And the best bit is that it’s free!!

I recently used the service to book car hire for my holiday and to find a plumber when my central heating broke down – it saved me so much time so I’ll definitely be taking advantage of the service again.  It really reminds me why o2 is such a great place to work.

My Role In O2

Friday, August 8th, 2008

My name is Danielle. I’ve worked here for 4 years now. I started in Network Services taking calls from customers who were having issues with the network, coverage etc. From there I went into Business Customer Services and I’m now in recruitment.

I mainly look after the Preston Brook and Bury side of things within the Recruitment Team, which is based in Leeds. My role as a Senior Recruitment Assistant is varied but generally means I look after applicants through to the stage of employment so it involves screening through online applications, telephone interviewing, interviewing face to face, then finally gathering all the required information such as reference details etc and offering positions to candidates. I process the offers and these are passed through for the contracts to be generated and sent.

I come across all kinds of people from all backgrounds and like to see people going through the process, getting settled into their roles and also when they progress into other areas.

I enjoy my job. I think O2 is a good company to work for with great opportunities to progress and really have a career. There are numerous perks and benefits that you can choose from, my favourite being the O2 in London where you can get tickets before everyone else or even win them through competitions. O2 even took all their employees there last June and we got to see Kaiser Chiefs, Basement Jaxx and the lovely Tom Jones!
